Pandit Narayan Moreshwar Khare popularized this method of classifying ragas. Is there any literature explaining this? It is said that initially he suggested 30 ragaanga categories. But now it is said that there are 34 categories. I request members to post any relevant information.

Hello Murti
I assume that's how people address you - please correct me if I am wrong. And apologies for missing out this post. It's a good summary of Raga classification. There is an RSA Murti who is a regular at Suntey Raho sessions. I suppose that's you? Let's connect sometime. Perhaps you could contribute some material for RagaSphere. My no is +91-9823135948. Please let me know yours.

I am just posting here some slides I prepared on the Classification of Ragas. I invite members here to comment. Thanks for your time and feedback.
Thank you Nithin Ji for your reply.
Yes, the credit of suggesting the Raganga Paddhati goes to Narayan Khare, and he did suggest 30 ragangas.
Unfortunately, I have not come across any extensive literature explaining or discussing the method of classification. Music enthusiasts are welcome to share if they know any....
as to the number growing to 34, again, I do not find any mentions...obviously, there is no standardisation when it comes to such matters. The number may keep changing with times, what we need to understand is the basic rationale behind the method, which certainly holds substance.....
